Description

The Liberia Institute for the promotion of Academic Excellence (LIPACE) through its "Excellence club project" will provide supervision and resources to students from fifteen different schools in Paynesville, Liberia. An assessment reveals that this will be the first time these students participate in World Teachers' Day celebrations. The activities will start on October 4 with a group of students and regional coordinators of LIPACE posting WTD posters on their campuses along with teachers' appreciation messages. This will be done when teachers have left their respective campus. Then, on the morning of October 5, students will make special efforts to arrive on campus early to welcome and surprise their teachers. During the course of this surprise, before classes, LIPACE is arranging a five minute Teachers' Day Appreciation statement that will be read by a student from the "Excellence club" during which time all teachers will be applauded by the general student populace and students will then move on to pinning flowers on teachers before classes. The detailed arrangements will not be known by the teachers.
